Our Transparent Estimation and Proposal Process

AMC Painting offers potential customers a no-hassle, no-pressure estimation and proposal process. We want you to want to use our services, not feel bullied into hiring our team. We are so confident in our skills, competitive pricing and professionalism that we do not even require a deposit before the work begins.

What to expect at your appointment:

  • Your professional, well-trained estimator will arrive at your home or project site at the scheduled time and begin a walkthrough to determine your needs.
  • They will take measurements and/or photos of the surfaces that require paint and ask questions about the finish you would like. If it is an exterior job, your estimator will discuss paint warranties and other factors. You will be asked if your house was built before 1978 to ensure your crew is aware of any potential concerns regarding lead paint or asbestos siding.
  • During the appointment, they will note whether or not trim or doors will require paint and note whether or not furniture will need to be moved. Your estimator may provide information on outdoor hazards for exterior projects.
  • You are more than welcome to ask questions and address concerns with your estimator. Many customers ask which process uses the least amount of house paint or whether rollers or sprayers will be used. They are happy to help you understand the process and share any details you request during the appointment. Accuracy is important to the AMC Painting team, so there is no detail that is too small to mention.

The purpose of our estimation process is to get all the information required to provide you with a clear estimate of the total cost of your project and set expectations for the painting process for house painting projects. Your appointment will not be filled with high-pressure sales pitches or other aggressive tactics. It is not a commitment to use AMC Painting, nor will you be inundated with high-pressure follow-up calls to use our services.

Our estimators are friendly, patient, kind and helpful. Our company specializes in tackling every project with superior customer service and a personal touch that is often absent in home services. Our goal is to show you why we are the best company for your project!

Your AMC Painting Proposal

Your proposal will be sent to you via email. It will include details about your specific job and a breakdown of each step. You will have time to review the proposal and you are always more than welcome to call if you have any questions about your project. If you are satisfied with your estimate, you will sign your proposal electronically and we will move on to the next phase.

Paint Color Selection

Color selection can be the most exciting part of the painting process. It can also be the most challenging process. While AMC Painting is not a professional design company, we do have some options to help make your color selection process a little easier.

AMC Painting uses Sherwin-Williams paint whenever possible (please see note about supply chain issues below). It is a brand that offers an extensive selection of high-quality paint in a variety of colors and finishes.

Sherwin-Williams Peel & Stick Samples

One of the most difficult questions to answer during color selection is: Can I live with this color every day for the next several years? Thankfully, our preferred paint brand has developed revolutionary peel and stick sample stickers that you can apply to your wall to see how you like the color in your room over a period of days. Even better, the stickers can be removed and reapplied so that you can see how the color looks in different lighting or in different areas of the room. Best of all, the stickers are large 8”x8” squares, not tiny swatches. That means you get a real understanding of how the color looks in the space, not just a best guess based on a tiny chip

Sherwin-Williams Virtual Color Consultants

Sherwin-Williams also provides free color consultation sessions on their company website. While AMC Painting is not affiliated with Sherwin-Williams’ color consultants, we invite our customers to check out this free service, especially if they are really struggling to find that perfect color.

A Note About Paint Supply Chain Issues

AMC Painting may experience the occasional paint shortage due to supply line shortages and transportation issues. Should we be unable to access our preferred brand, we will inform you of your options for a substitution of equal quality.

How AMC Painting Preps, Paints and Cleans Up Your Project Site

Every AMC Painting project is completed with care, from prep to paint to clean-up. Our crews are courteous and professional from start to finish and treat your home with respect.

The amount of prep work required will depend on the type of project. For example, a new house paint process will require far less work due to the home not having furniture to move or cover, or nail holes to patch and fill. The process of painting a newly constructed house will still include protecting windows, floors or any other surfaces, but it simply takes less time.

On the first day of the project, your estimator will be onsite for the initial set-up. Since they performed the initial walk-through, they will be the most knowledgeable about your requests and any special needs your home might require.

  • Crew will mask off and cover areas that do not need to be painted like windows, permanent furniture, doors, trim and floors.
  • Heavy furniture will be moved or protected.
  • Your crew will address any minor repairs, like patching holes from picture hooks or light cleaning of the surface.

Paint will be applied with care utilizing the best tools for each specific paint type and surface. If you have requested any sort of primer or other pre-paint treatment, that will be performed as well.

  • You will be taken on a walk-through to inspect our work. During this time, you can address concerns or ask questions. We strive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction with every job, so please share concerns with your project manager.
  • Your crew will remove any trash, empty paint cans, used tools, tape and drop cloths from the site. They will help move heavy items back to their original location.
  • Your project manager will let you know of any post-paint steps you need to take in the days following project completion.
  • Your crew will begin by moving heavy objects noted by your estimator.
  • They will cover landscape close to the site and protect any surfaces that cannot be moved. (Note for new homes: As with the painting process for new house interiors, the exterior house painting process for new homes can often require less preparation. Ask your contractor for information on when to paint your house in the building process.)
  • They will pressure wash the exterior surface with a professional pressure washer to remove dirt and debris from the exterior surface.
  • Your crew will caulk joints, scrape loose paint or chipped paint and prime exposed areas on bare wood or wood siding.

Your team will apply a fresh coat of paint to exterior walls using a paint sprayer. The process for painting exteriors of houses includes protective measures to minimize overspray.

  • You and your project manager will do a walkthrough of the site to ensure you are satisfied with the work.
  • Your crew will remove drop cloths, clean up trash and inspect the site to ensure it is clean.

Whether you are painting the interior of your home top to bottom or applying fresh paint to the exterior, you will receive friendly service and frequent communication. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile for each and every customer we serve. You will always be able to call with questions and speak to a real person who cares about your project. That commitment to quality and customer service is what sets us apart from our competitors.
